"Plan B" against Covid-19
“The year is 50 B.C. Gaul is entirely occupied by the Romans. Well not entirely! One small village of indomitable Gauls still holds out against the invaders.” This is how each of the famous comic book series “The Adventures of Asterix” starts. Well, it is not BC, nor is it in Gaul, but the “Plan B” club (Malmö, Sweden) and its decision to continue offering concerts in full outbreak of the coronavirus, pretty much could be today our favorite pair of Gauls.
While every day more countries add to the list of restrictions the ban on holding large public events until August 31st, thus ending with the tiny hopes that we could still have of being able to go to any music festival this next Summer, “Plan B”, a club with a capacity to locate 350 people has continue putting on shows limiting the audience to 40 people.
With practically the whole world under lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic, “Plan B” might be the only venue holding shows these days. And this is possible because Sweden has not been as strict as other countries and the government still allows public gatherings with a maximum of 50 people and bars and restaurants can open just by following some restrictions, also relying on the common sense of Swedish citizens. A thoughtful but controversial decision with opinions for all tastes that on the other hand has undoubtedly put this irreverent club on the world map.
And you, what opinion do you have about it?
