Wheels Of Madness

Wheels Of Madness

Were you in the last edition of Sziget festival? Then surely you have not forgotten the seventh day of the festival. Foo Fighters were going to put the icing on a great edition and theirs was the last major concert scheduled for the main stage. After 6 days of sun and a lot of heat, the sky and all the festival screens announced a storm. Although in the end, the only storm unleashed was on the stage with an epic performance by Dave Grohl's group that had its peak when he invited a guy in a wheelchair to join them on the stage.

Even if you weren't there, you surely remember the scene because the footage went viral. There could not have been a better end to the party, neither for the boy, nor for all of us who witnessed it, nor of course for a festival that continues to prioritize their inclusive focused approach, ensuring that all “Szitizens”, no matter their background, genre, color or orientation, can all of them enjoy what this unique festival has to offer.

The gesture enlarged even more the figure of Dave Grohl. When the show was coming to the end, moments before playing their classic track “Everlong”, Grohl pointed out one fan and asked the crowd to bring him to the stage. “He’s the fu**ing star of the show, right there!” said Dave Grohl. The guy was Gal Mizrachi, a 33 years old multimedia teacher from Tel Aviv who had been attending Sziget every year for the past five years. And yes, he goes in a wheelchair.

In his own words: "Sziget has changed my life. It is my favorite festival and my favorite place on earth. It taught me a lot about myself and about humanity, kindness, friendships and extended my music awareness to different artists from all over the world. It proved to me that limitations only exist inside our minds."

Prior to news of this unforgettable moment traveling around the world, an independent film crew (Das Rund Filmproduktion) had journeyed to the Hungarian festival to find out more about the star of the show, creating this heart-warming mini- documentary released months after via Sziget YouTube channel.

The 28th edition of Sziget festival will take place in Budapest (Hungary) between August 5th and 11th, 2020. Check out all the information to know more about the lineup, schedule or ticket sales on Sziget´s website.
