Die Neuen Schweden. Music networking & showcase in Berlin!

Better Things and Swedish educational institute Sensus return to Berlin for the 9th time with their highly acclaimed music networking & showcase “Die Neuen Schweden”. This program gives six artists to learn about the German music market and play a showcase in Berlin. The artists have been previously selected by a Berlin based jury consisting of different professionals from the music industry and from May to August the project kicks off with a digital knowledge program and then all six bands travel to Berlin where they get the chance to meet Berlin based booking agents, labels, journalists, managers, promoters. As the absolute highlight, all artists will play a (free entrance) showcase in front of fans and music professionals on the upcoming September 6, 2023. Check out below the six artists selected for the 2023 edition:

Namelle

Namelle was born in Sweden and has done hundreds of gigs and been to several countries to write, record, collaborate and perform. Her music is described as confident and sassy electro pop, and with more than 5.6 Million streams on Spotify alone, she’s making herself heard around the world. In November 2022 Namelle released her second EP 'Salt' and is currently working on her next EP in LA and New York.

Deepaak

deepaak also known as Martin Forsell is a multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer from Sweden. Martin crafts a seamless meld of dreamy indie-pop filled with 80s synthesizers and driving rhythms.

MELÉN

MELÉN is a Malmö/Copenhagen based artist and producer with a vision to create a soundscape that balances between the human and the mechanical. She released her debut EP 'Mind/Math' in 2021 and followed up with SHIFT/WHEN in 2022. Through her unique way of creating music by using loops, vocal pedals and samples from voice memos, she has gotten praise from Swedish media and radio. In her set up with pedals, piano and synth she performs together with Albin Andersson (bass) and Martin Liljeroth (drums, machines), they build a dynamic soundscape and an international sound that has been compared to acts such as Bon Iver, Björk and The Japanese House.

7ebra

7ebra are 25-year-old twin sisters from Malmö, who grew up playing music together. Inez plays electric guitar and sings, Ella plays a keyboard, organ and Mellotron - whilst manually playing drum samples with her feet - as they both sing haunting harmonies in a way that only twins can. Beautiful but punk, minimalist but epic. On May 5, 2023, they released their Tore Johansson (The Cardigans, Franz Ferdinand) produced debut LP 'Bird Hour' via PNKSLM Recordings.

Shadi G

Shadi G is a Swedish songwriter, producer and singer whose soulful voice and unique RnB/Soul sound is striking the attention of some of Sweden's biggest music magazines. Being schooled in classical music from a young age, growing up with music all from jazz, RnB, soul, hip hop to Persian music, Shadi is crossing borders with her own soulful sound, both in style and language. Straight after high school she went off to London to learn music production and in 2016 she released her debut single 'Lost' which got her on to some of Sweden's biggest playlists. In 2017 Shadi started her own record label, Goldmine Records, and she is known for her unique way of blending RnB/Soul with her Persian roots.

Lovi Did This

Lovi Did This’ intensity on stage has a reputation of really getting underneath the audience’s skin, making them dance, laugh and sometimes even cry. Her emotional performance made Liveurope shortlist her as live act to look out for 2023, and indeed, her Tarantino guitars and Lynch-scented songs is taking her as far as Australia later this year.
