Coldplay, new album but no tour to benefit the environment

Coldplay, new album but no tour to benefit the environment

After having become one of the most famous bands on the planet, after years of mastodonic tours with exorbitant prices, and far from a beginnings in which they put out terrific songs (and albums) like “Yellow” or “the Scientist”, Coldplay is back with a new album. But it is difficult to distinguish a band that over the years has won spectacularly but has lost in music. Despite the legitimacy and probable need of their messages, so much color, positivism and happiness may have finally gotten out of hand. The artifice has ended up beating the music, which is what they really do.

In any case, Coldplay are back presenting "Everyday Life", their eighth studio album. A release they have celebrated with two exclusive performances streaming live from Amman (Jordan). One set at the Sunrise and another one at the Sunset to mirror the two halves of the 52 minute double album.

And coinciding with the release of an album that also reflects their feelings about the environment, frontman Chris Martin announced during an interview at the BBC that they will not go on tour worried about the environmental impact that their concerts can generate. By doing so, they join a list of musicians (Billie Eilish or The 1975) that at least begins to raise their voices showing concern at the huge carbon footprint generated by their tours.

During the interview at the BBC Chris Martin would say: “We're taking time to see how our tour can be actively beneficial. All of us have to work out the best way of doing our job. ”Martin went on to say he wanted all future tours to“ have a positive impact. ”He continued:“ Our next tour will be the best possible version of a tour like that (Coldplay's last tour, “A Head Full of Dreams”, took them over 4 continents doing 122 shows in 2016 and 2017) environmentally. We would be disappointed if it’s not carbon neutral. ”

While the band take some time off to work out how to make touring more sustainable and not damaging the environment, you can watch below the two concerts from last Friday.
