Behind the curtain of the Nevermind cover
Few album covers are as iconic as Nirvana's Nevermind album. And precisely when the album is about to celebrate its 30th anniversary, its again in all media as a consequence of the lawsuit filed by Spencer Elden (the boy who appears naked on the cover) against all the living members of Nirvana, nothing more and nothing less than alleging child pornography.
Apparently, after reflecting for 30 years, an Elden already in his thirties considers now that the image of him naked chasing a Dollar bill makes him be represented as "a sex worker".
The reality is that the idea of Kurt Cobain was to represent a helpless baby chasing money, in what has always been considered a critique of capitalism. Something that never seemed to bother Elden, who offered himself to repeat the famous cover in 2016 for the Rolling Stone magazine and who even has the name of the album tattooed on his chest. It seems more like a desperate move to get some money for someone with a record of multiple complaints over the years for the fact that his family only received 200 dollars for a Kirk Weddle photo shoot for the cover of an album that would end up selling more than 30 million copies. He also claims that his parents never authorized the use of the photo on the album cover.
And as if this wouldn’t be funny enough, the lawsuit has not only been filed against Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic, but also Chad Channing, who was the drummer of Nirvana before the album was even released!
