10 Artists you can't miss at Mallorca Live Festival

Despite how globalized festivals tend to be, traveling to a festival in a different country is usually a good opportunity to discover new artists and as I mentioned a few days ago in the article ‘8 reasons to attend Mallorca Live Festival’, the Balearic festival is the perfect opportunity not only to find new talent, but also to start the summer festival season in a unique island. Besides, the ‘22 edition brings a line-up full of big names such as Muse, Metronomy, Editors, The Blessed Madonna, Milky Chance, Jeff Mills, Justice or Supergrass but it also includes names you might not know so well and that you should definitely not miss. In any case, these are the 10 artists I’m personally not going to miss at a festival that starts in just two days and has only a few tickets available left!

C. Tangana

Some people criticize him because he doesn't know how to sing or dance, and they're right, he doesn’t. But C. Tangana is one of the smartest artists in the Spanish music industry and if that wasn't enough, he probably has the most surprising show of the year. This rapper from Madrid, with a degree in Philosophy mixes musical styles like no one else and knows how to surround himself with talent that he manages to perfection. Intuitive, hard-working, ambitious and above all talented, C Tangana is undoubtedly one of the biggest attractions of the festival and although limited by the particularities of a festival, his show is sure to leave no one indifferent. You can warm up by rewatching his Tiny Desk Concert which by the way was the most viewed episode of 2021 with 30 million views.

Don't miss him on Friday 24th at the Estrella Damm stage at 22:15h.

Jamie XX

Surprised to see Jamie XX on this list? Don't worry, it's normal. His name didn't appear anywhere until a few hours ago when the festival announced the cancellation of Peggy Gou and her replacement by Jamie XX. Although I would have liked to have seen the Korean sensation, I must confess that I was only sorry for a minute. Highly recommended performance!

Don't miss him on Friday 24th at the Tanqueray 00 stage at 02:00h.

Izal

If you don't know them, you can't miss the concert of a group that has been at the forefront of Spanish indie music in the last decade. What's more, they recently announced their split as a group, so one more reason not to miss one of their last shows and sing along to the choruses of big hits such as Copacabana or La Mujer de Verde.

Don't miss them on Friday 24th at the Estrella Damm stage at 00:30h.

Pahua

Pahua is the solo project of Mexican singer, songwriter and DJ Paulina Sotomayor. Her music is a mixture of sounds and emotions that represents her feminine side and her link with nature, something that from the very first moment grabs you and transports you to a colorful world through the use of synthesizers and organic sounds mixed with multiple genres and Latin rhythms.

Don't miss her on Sunday 26th at the Ferry GNV stage at 02:00h.

Guitarricadelafuente

Always glued to his acoustic guitar, at only 22 years old Álvaro Lafuente is delicacy, shyness and authenticity and above all a lot of sensitivity that sounds like the courtyards of many villages in southern Spain, although he actually comes from much further north (Aragón). A concert to enjoy quietly, close your eyes and let yourself go.

Don't miss him on Sunday 26th at the Estrella Damm stage at 20:30h.

Parquesvr

‘Café para muy cafeteros’ (coffee for coffee lovers), as they would say in Spain. A band with an absolutely unpredictable personality, full of sociological criticism very close to the theater of the absurd. Their music (and their lyrics if you can understand them) may make your head explode but it may also make you have some good laughs and an unexpectedly good time if you go and see the performance of a group that is difficult to classify.

Don't miss them on Sunday 26th at the Ferry GNV stage at 23:30h.

Red Axes

Formed in Tel-Aviv a decade ago Duo Red Axes are an eclectic duo whose tracks range from dubby left-field house workouts to brooding cuts influenced by industrial and new wave. Their songs often blend dusty, twangy electric guitar riffs with simmering disco-inspired drum-machine rhythms, as well as the duo’s own shadowy vocals. And most importantly, they have an incredible live and DJ set.

Don’t miss them on Saturday 25th at the Tanqueray 00 stage at 22:00h

Delaporte

Delaporte live is a mix between a concert and a house session. Mixes, mixes and more mixes. Mixes of sounds, rhythms and tracks that provoke an explosion of dancing and fun among the audience. Pure energy that is usually accompanied by powerful visuals that I won't miss at the Mallorca Live Festival.

Don't miss them on Friday 24th at the Ferry GNV stage at 02:00h.

Biznaga

They belong to a generation of musicians formed around punk and they have established themselves as one of the strongest candidates to overcome the barriers of this genre and the general public. Their music is full of melodies, speech and attitude and live on stage they work like clockwork. The best proposal to start with energy a last day full of powerful names at the festival.

Don't miss them on Sunday 26th at the Innside by Meliá stage at 19:50h.

Franz Ferdinand

Who doesn't know Franz Ferdinand? You might think that long ago they lost the sparkle that made them famous in the early 2000s, but that would be a mistake because the Scottish band has been much more than just an indie band. Besides, they haven’t stopped making music and they haven’t lost any of the energy that makes them a guarantee of live success. Franz Ferdinand never fail!

Don't miss them on Saturday 25th at the Estrella Damm stage at 00:30h.

The Mallorca Live Festival will take place on June 24th, 25th and 26th in Mallorca (Spain). More information and tickets directly at the festival's official website.
