Banglist @ Badehaus in Berlin

Banglist @ Badehaus in Berlin

Banglist is exactly that, the list of people you'd like to bang. But also one the most exciting and fun bands that you can see these days in Berlin. Scandi-pop, neo-rock, post-punk, indie, diva-group Banglist is in their own words “best described as that butterfly feeling that you get when you find a new crush; they’re exciting, sexy, amazing and you’ll never be as cool as them”.

Trying to find a girlfriend/boyfriend to a member of the band, going through sexual anecdotes of youth when technical problems occur or finding out that Mark Ruffalo is on top of the singer´s banglist are just some of the things that can happen in a concert of this young band. Humor, charisma, great scenic skills but especially great music for a band that has to be seen live to experience it at its best.

The Icelandic-Norwegian four-piece band based in Berlin proved it once again last Saturday at Badehaus in the iconic area of the Warschauer Strasse. Doses of humor by vocalist Ásdís María, which would be nothing more than a joke if not because they are accompanied by a bunch of very good songs. On Saturday, preceded by the performances of La Laguna Band and Sergeant Jammer, and despite a hesitant and somewhat rugged start, they offered as usual a great show that ended up being very short and finished with the audience singing in unison “Turn The Lights Down”, a song that always brings down the house!

Banglist owes much to the charisma and great voice of its singer, although they are much more than that. As a whole they look like a well-behaved family, they have a great guitarist (Pétur Karl), seductive bass lines (Per Monstad) and a very well-oiled drummer (Ylva Brandtsegg) and in their concerts they make you feel part of something, you have the same feeling as when you make a new friend. They are great but they still have to be polished and grow and I hope they find the opportunities, motivation and help to do it because they certainly have talent and a great future ahead.

Paraphrasing them again, “a Banglist concert is the musical equivalent of a really amazing Tinder date that makes you believe in love at first sight” so if you live in Berlin (or even if you don't) follow them and stay tuned for upcoming shows!
