Parcels, the last ones to join the history of the legendary Hansa studios
In a gray, uncertain and of course dangerous time, located next to the wall in West Berlin, just a hundred meters south of Potsdamer Platz, there was a building in the 70s that remains intact today, and whose interior has witnessed some of the most legendary recording sessions in music history. I am of course talking about the Hansa studios.
Berlin still retains that magnetism that today attracts thousands of people but there was a time when the German city was the most creative place on earth and the Hansa studios had a lot to do with it. Its 3 recording studios have seen artists such as David Bowie, U2, Depeche Mode, Iggy Pop, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, R.E.M. and so many others coming here attracted by the atmosphere of this magical place where they ended up recording songs that today are history of music. The latest to join this exclusive group, Parcels.
As in a carefully detailed movie script, the Australian band based in Berlin continues to lead its own way. After years of non-stop touring, just before the Covid-19 exploded, Parcels decided to record in the Hansa studios the setlist they have been touring with in recent years. The result is a wonderful album (Live Vol. 1) and a video of the session that you can find below.
