9 reasons to attend Lollapalooza Berlin

9 reasons to attend Lollapalooza Berlin

Lollapalooza Berlin marks not only the end of Summer but also the end of the festival season. Its like that since the most popular music festival brand in the world landed in Europe in 2015 (after Berlin, following editions would also take place in París and Stockholm). With 95% of the tickets already sold out, everyone seems to be looking forward for Lollapalooza to come. Here are 9 reasons why you should get your ticket too before is too late!

01. The city of Berlin

Lollapalooza, commonly known simply as Lolla is an urban festival. And this is good for many reasons. It is true that urban festivals do not have the romanticism of the festivals where you camp, living a very different experience but, how good it feels to sleep in your own bed? And certainly we better don't even talk about the toilet situation! Another good reason is the sustainability. A festival where the majority of the people will arrive by walking, biking or using public transportation is definitely good news. More reasons? How about Berlin itself? There is no other city like Berlin in the world. Whether the festival ends too early a matchless nightlife will be awaiting for you.

02. The music

I know, if we compare this year's lineup with the first one of 2015, well...better not to do it! Lolla ́s first edition was insane! Nevertheless Lollapalooza always offers a wide musical variety which means that there will be something for you. Plus, who is not excited to see Billie Eilish? It will also be the only chance to see bands like Kings of Leon or Kraftclub, and the last chance to see Parcels in a long time (unless you plan to spend Christmas in Australia). You can check the whole lineup here.

03. The location of Olympiastadion & Olympiapark Berlin

After 4 editions and 4 different locations (Tempelhof in 2015, Treptower Park in 2016, Hoppegarten in 2017 and Olympia Stadium in 2018), it is in this fifth edition when the festival finally repeats venue. After a few convulses years where something as complex as the festival location (even more when it comes to an urban festival) has been changing due to problems outside the festival, Lollapalooza seems to have found its final home. And despite the effort, it has well deserved the wait! The overwhelming Stadium and its surroundings are part of the 20th century history. If you have never been, I warn you that the place imposes! You can check the festival map here.

04. The Kidzpalooza

There is no age limit to attend a festival. And certainly having kids is not a limitation. While at other festivals is rare the presence of the children, Lollapalooza welcome them and have a dedicated area for the youngest festival attendees with ages between 0 and 11 where they can attend workshops, play with instruments, attend concerts and live their own Lolla experience.

05. The Fashionpalooza

Fashion is much more than catwalks and magazines and by far the best outfits can be found at festivals where people from all over the world dress in the craziest textures, patterns and colors. Discover at Fashionpalooza the sustainable fashion. Get crazy at the do-it-yourself glittering station, attend fashion shows or be inspired by speakers on topics such as female empowerment and body positivity surrounded by the beautiful installations of the winding mirror forest and textile garden.

06. The Art

Lollapalooza is much more than music, and art is the proof of it. With a year after year increasing collaboration with Berlin's Urban Art Museum, the festival has always surprised attendees with impressive collaborations. From uniques graffitis by international artists to the “We paint the music that you like to hear” from last edition, where artists inspired by songs or lyrics painted gigantic murals covering 300 meters around the Olympia Stadium in a unique art experience.

07. The Lolla Fun Fair

The Lolla Fun Fair is a world of fantasy, curiosity and gimmicks. Artists, acrobats and performers from all over the world coming to Lolla to enchant all your senses. Circus, amazing swinging exhibitions, surprising creatures of all kinds and an endless amount of beautiful and unique things to discover are always part of the Lolla Fun Fair.

08. The Take a Stand campaign

Lollapalooza is partner of the Take a Stand campaign. Never heard of it? Take a Stand is a campaign with the mission to keep our society intelligent and human encouraging social cohesion, promoting awareness and tolerance for all cultures, genders, races, religions, sexual orientations, colors and origins. A campaign to motivate people to participate in politics and social activities, speaking up for peaceful dialogue, humanism, tolerance and mutual understanding, to make the world a better place for every single individual and for all of us. In short, Lolla is a festival committed to culture, tolerance and respect!

09. The opportunity to flirt

With more people already meeting through apps than real life, at Lolla there will be more than one hundred thousand people partying. Trust me, no matter how you look or what you like, there will be someone who was just waiting for you. So whether you are single, challenge yourself and get creative to get to know anyone in the old way! There is no better topic than music to break the ice...and common, Tinder is great but isn't cooler to tell your future children that you met your partner while dancing at Lolla? However, if I haven't convinced you, you can still swipe right and find your match at Lolla!
